While the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve unfortunately won’t be hosting any Formula 1 action this year, the facilities are being put to good use for the local community as residents in the Greater Montreal area are being offered the chance for a ‘Pit Stop’ vaccination in one of the venues’ many garages.

The Canadian Grand Prix promoters, in collaboration with the City of Montreal, Government of Québec and the Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal University Integrated Health and Social Services Centre, have transformed 20 garages into vaccination stations, with the aim of administering 6,000 vaccines across the next three weekends.  

Starting this weekend (29-30 May), there will be a drive-in vaccination service for people on bicycles, where over 187 people will be vaccinated every hour, with 500 drop-in doses available per day, on top of 500 pre-booked appointments. The vaccination centre will then be open to cars by appointment-only on the following two weekends, 5-6 June and 12-13 June, the original date for the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN GRAND PRIX DU CANADA 2021, where medical personnel will operate around the cars like an F1 team would in the garage on race weekend to deliver 1,000 vaccinations per day. 

If getting vaccinated in an F1 garage wasn’t already enough of an experience, there will also be sports cars and race cars showcased throughout the garages, as well as music being played throughout the day.
