Formula 1 and Hello Sunshine partner for docuseries on F1 Academy

Formula 1® has today announced a new partnership with production company Hello Sunshine on a docuseries about the all-female F1 Academy series.

The adrenaline-fueled, story-driven docuseries follows all fifteen drivers across the five F1 Academy teams, offering exclusive, behind the scenes access. The docuseries will highlight the drama of the races, as well as the personal stories of these incredible drivers and the teams around them, as they break barriers in one of the most demanding sports in the world.

In 2023, F1 Academy will race at seven global locations concluding the inaugural season at the United States Grand Prix in October. Next season the series’ racing schedule will align with the F1 calendar, creating an opportunity for female drivers to participate in Formula 1 weekends alongside the pinnacle of motorsport.

Reese Witherspoon will executive produce the series alongside Hello Sunshine’s Head of Unscripted Sara Rea, while Isabelle Stewart, Head of Original Content at Formula 1, will executive produce on behalf of F1 Academy.

Susie Wolff, Managing Director of F1 Academy, said:

“F1 Academy is going to drive change in the motorsport industry as we create the best possible structure to find and nurture female talent both on and off the racetrack. We want to inspire women around the world to follow their dreams, and by partnering with Hello Sunshine, who are leaders in telling inspirational female stories, we will reach a global audience and empower the next generation of young women to break down barriers in motorsport and beyond.”

Sarah Harden, CEO of Hello Sunshine, said:

“Formula 1 has established itself as not only a global powerhouse, but also a forward-thinking competition that is committed to creating equal opportunities for women. As the remarkable women of the ground-breaking F1 Academy prepare to make history, we’re honoured to have the opportunity to document the many captivating narratives both on and off the track.”

Sara Rea, Head of Unscripted at Hello Sunshine, said:

“The opportunity to partner with F1 Academy is a privilege that we could not be more excited about.
