Formula 1® chooses ELEVEN SPORTS to broadcast F1 in Portugal

Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsport and global sports provider ELEVEN SPORTS are pleased to announce they have agreed a three-year deal which will allow them to broadcast the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in Portugal from 2019 until 2021.

ELEVEN SPORTS will showcase all the complete track action, with Friday and Saturday practice and qualifying sessions, and Sunday races, through live, delay and repeat broadcasts. ELEVEN holds exclusive rights across linear platforms and will be expanding television coverage of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship™ in the region by offering fans additional feeds on its channels which will include the driver tracker, pit lane channel, mixed on-board and timing channel which will supplement the international feed coverage.

As part of the commitment, ELEVEN will be setting up full production at all races, bringing the action straight from the track to the fans.

Michaella Snoeck, Senior Manager, Media Rights at Formula 1, said:

“Formula 1 are delighted to be entering into a new partnership with ELEVEN SPORTS in Portugal for the next three seasons. ELEVEN SPORTS will be taking production in Portugal to the next level, offering extended coverage across their TV channels and their digital offering. This agreement, combined with our new OTT offering, marks another step in the development of our licensing strategy.

Pedro Mendonça Pinto, Non-Executive Director of ELEVEN SPORTS Portugal, said:

“Portuguese people love Formula 1 and we are delighted to have the opportunity to offer fans all the action combined with our high-quality production and delivery. Our quality production on the ground at all races will be accompanied by top analysis and insight delivered by a world-class team, including the best local commentators and pundits in Portugal. We are going to take F1 coverage to another level and people will be thrilled with what we will offer.”

In addition to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship and to confirm the commitment both partners have to introducing the sport to new audiences, ELEVEN SPORTS channels will be broadcasting live all the events of the FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 Championships until the same 2021 year.
